City database ; punak neighborhood Jul 29, 2020 Punak neighborhood is located in the northwest of Tehran in which most of the area is located in District 5. Punak village is one of the old villages of Tehran and there are two narrations for naming it. The first narration is: there were abundance of mint flowers in this area. That is why it is called Punak neighborhood or Pooneh flower neighborhood. The secound version is: the existence if a village called “poinak” in this area which later changed its pronunciation slightly, but the word itself has not completely disappeared.
